About The Host
I’m Fernando Harris II, and my journey has been anything but ordinary. As a military child, I grew up constantly on the move—born in Texas, then living in Virginia, Japan, the Chicago suburbs, New Orleans after my parents divorced, San Diego, and finally Chicago for law school. Each place shaped me in different ways, exposing me to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities.
But my path to success wasn’t always clear. Going into my senior year of high school, I had a 1.8 GPA—a number that could have defined me if I let it. Instead, I chose to rewrite my story. I started at community college, worked relentlessly, and earned my way into UC San Diego. From there, I was admitted to several top law schools before ultimately choosing Northwestern. Now, as I prepare to graduate, I’m set to begin my career in corporate law at a large firm.
This podcast was born from a lesson my father instilled in me: exposure is everything. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by people who showed me what was possible—tangible examples of success that made my dreams feel real. In my case, all I needed was to focus and put in the work. But I know that not everyone has that same privilege.
That’s why I created this podcast: to give others the exposure that made such a difference in my life. My goal is to share the stories, insights, and experiences of people from all walks of life so that listeners—no matter where they’re starting—can see what’s possible and start chasing their own dreams.
Because success isn’t about where you begin. It’s about what you see, what you learn, and how hard you’re willing to work.
